Alibaba Qoder Releases Open Source AI Programming Tool Better Harness
Alibaba Cloud's AI programming tool Qoder has open-sourced Better Harness under the MIT License. This tool checks whether code projects are ready with the rules, tools, and validation processes for the Coding Agent. The scope of the checks includes code repositories, Agent configurations, and real task records. It evaluates whether the project can start normally, whether the test commands are clear, whether the Agent's permission restrictions are reasonable, and whether relevant tests have been conducted after code modifications. After the checks, the tool lists the areas where the Agent is prone to errors and provides evidence, impact, scope of fixes, and re-verification methods for each issue. Users can directly have the Agent make modifications and re-check. Better Harness currently supports Qoder, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and Qwen Code, with Qoder having the most complete functionality. Qoder also used this tool to check its own code repository, ultimately scoring 58, indicating that it is still in the early stages and is rapidly fixing issues after being open-sourced.
