Bigo Live Joins EWC 2026 MENA Content Partnership
Bigo Live will participate as the MENA content partner for the eSports World Cup 2026 (EWC 2026). During the tournament, MENA users will have access to live broadcasts of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Honor of Kings, and PUBG Mobile matches, as well as creator watch parties, in-app campaigns, and reward features. Khaldun Mahmoud, Bigo Technology's MENA Government Relations Officer, stated that they aim to make eSports viewing a truly interactive community experience. This partnership is separate from the introduction of virtual asset payments for EWC 2026, as payment provider TripleA announced that Bigo Live users will be able to top up their accounts using Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tether, and USD Coin. EWC 2026 will take place in Paris, France, from July 6 to August 23, featuring over 2,000 players and 200 clubs from more than 100 countries, with a total prize pool of $75 million. Bigo Live's parent company, JOYY, has a strong presence in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, with the primary revenue source being users purchasing virtual items to gift to streamers. The scope of payment support in the MENA region is expected to be a significant issue moving forward.
