Cook's Compensation as Apple CEO Reaches Nearly $2.4 Billion Over 15 Years, With Stock Awards Making Up 93%
Tim Cook has received approximately $2.397 billion in total compensation during his tenure as Apple CEO from fiscal year 2011 to 2025, equivalent to about 161 billion RMB. Of this, stock awards were valued at around $2.221 billion at the time of vesting, accounting for approximately 93% of his total compensation; his salary, cash bonuses, and other compensation totaled about $176 million. Cook's high salary has sparked shareholder controversies, with only 64% of shareholders supporting Apple's executive compensation plan for fiscal year 2021 in 2022. Subsequently, Apple reduced Cook's target compensation and increased the proportion of performance-linked stock awards. Following his transition from CEO to Executive Chairman of Apple's Board, Cook's compensation has been further adjusted. The currently disclosed plan shows his annual salary will decrease from $3 million to $2 million, and his stock awards will drop from $50 million to $45 million, totaling approximately $47 million. The new CEO, John Ternus, will receive an annual stock award of $55 million, continuing the compensation structure centered on equity incentives.
