Europe Imports 90,000 Tons of Diesel from South Korea
The trading company Trafigura Group has organized the delivery of 90,000 tons of South Korean diesel to Northwestern Europe, including the port of Rotterdam and the United Kingdom. The tanker Priamos will cover a route of over 12,000 miles (more than 19,312 km) through the Suez Canal. Analysts note that this route is necessitated by the need to build fuel reserves ahead of the winter period in the Northern Hemisphere, as refining capacities in Europe are limited and the region relies on external supplies. Global supply volumes have also decreased due to the conflict in the Middle East and Russia's war against Ukraine. Additionally, diesel prices in Europe significantly exceed those in the Asian market, as confirmed by data from brokerage firm PVM regarding the maximum price gap since 2023. Asian refineries continue production despite disruptions in crude oil supplies, and China plans to increase fuel exports after easing restrictions.
