Foundry Bitcoin Mining Pool Initiates Vote on Supporting BIP-110 Proposal
On July 22, Foundry USA, a Bitcoin mining pool, is inviting its miner clients to vote on whether to support the BIP-110 Bitcoin Improvement Proposal. BIP-110 is a soft fork proposal aimed at reducing the amount of data that can be stored in Bitcoin transactions, with the goal of limiting the space non-monetary transactions occupy on the Bitcoin network. Foundry has provided relevant proposal introduction materials to its miner clients, and the voting window will close at Bitcoin block height 961632, expected to be in early August. Miner clients can participate in the vote through a link received via email. BIP-110 is currently controversial within the Bitcoin community; supporters believe the proposal will help reduce the pressure on block space from non-financial transactions, while opponents worry it may affect the openness of the Bitcoin network. Blockstream CEO Adam Back and Strategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor have both publicly opposed the proposal, arguing that it could freeze user funds or impact normal transactions. According to Hashrate Index data, Foundry USA currently accounts for approximately 23.8% of the total Bitcoin network hash rate, and its stance on BIP-110 may influence future community discussions and deployment processes regarding the proposal.
