Germany Allocates €60 Million in Aid to Ukraine

Germany will provide an additional €60 million to Ukraine, of which €50 million will be directed towards humanitarian assistance in frontline regions, and €10 million will be contributed to NATO's fund to support Ukraine. This was announced by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul at a press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha in Kyiv on August 22. The €50 million in humanitarian aid will be received by UN organizations and NGOs that assist people near the front line. The funds will be used for repairing damaged housing, mobile sanitation facilities, heating devices, and other urgent assistance ahead of winter. Germany also plans to provide additional generators for decentralized energy supply. The €10 million contributed to the NATO fund will be used for decentralized energy supply for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, rescue equipment for military hospitals, and drone defense systems. Previously, Germany allocated €50 million for the safe confinement of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which was damaged by a Russian drone.
