Julián Alvarez Returns to Training with Atlético de Madrid, Moves Away from Barcelona
Julián Alvarez has begun following the training plan sent by Atlético de Madrid, distancing himself from the possibility of a transfer to Barcelona. Despite failed negotiations between the two clubs, the Argentine forward has reached out to the Madrid team following Argentina's victory over Austria in the 2026 World Cup. Alvarez, who is still on vacation in Ibiza, will join the rest of the squad on Monday, August 10, unless a last-minute negotiation arises. The player is under contract with Atlético de Madrid until June 30, 2030, with a release clause of 500 million euros. The club's CEO, Miguel Ángel Gil, has stated that no offer from Barcelona will be accepted, rejecting any possibility of a transfer. Additionally, Atlético de Madrid has reported Barcelona to the Royal Spanish Football Federation, claiming that the Catalan club influenced Alvarez to pressure his departure.
