Morgan Stanley executive says tokenization ends 9-to-5 banking era
Betsy Graseck, Morgan Stanley’s global head of banking and diversified finance research, stated that the shift toward tokenized assets indicates the end of the traditional 9-to-5 banking era. Speaking at a panel on digital assets, Graseck highlighted that the era of fixed banking hours is concluding, reflecting a broader trend in financial markets. Banks and exchanges are investing in technology that enables assets to move continuously, rather than only during business hours. She noted that investor demand now extends beyond cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, with institutional investors focusing on tokenization to enhance cash mobility, improve collateral efficiency, and create new investment opportunities. Graseck warned that companies ignoring this trend risk falling behind, and those that do not modernize their systems in line with the shift toward digital assets may struggle to establish a foundation for growth.
