Polymarket to Upgrade Settlement Rules on August 7, Adopting Time-Weighted Average Price

By: x.com|2026/07/30 13:09:15

Polymarket has announced that starting August 7, it will adjust the settlement mechanism for its cryptocurrency prediction markets. Beginning at midnight UTC, the market will no longer settle based on a single price snapshot at a specific time, but will instead use a time-weighted average price (TWAP). Different markets will have different TWAP windows: the 5-minute market will use a 30-second TWAP, while both the 15-minute and 4-hour markets will use a 60-second TWAP. This move aims to protect market integrity, as the single snapshot settlement method can lead to price manipulation during periods of low liquidity. To support the transition, Polymarket will inject $1 million in liquidity rewards into all affected markets in August. On the technical side, Chainlink's TWAP testnet data stream is now available, and the mainnet data stream along with Polymarket's real-time data stream service will launch on August 4. Developers can access TWAP prices through Chainlink Data Streams or Polymarket's public WebSocket.
