Ripple AI Payments Reach 1 Million Transactions, Onboarding Physical Consumption

Ripple (XRP) is emerging as a key element in the AI agent payment infrastructure, but its use on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) is primarily focused on digital service payments such as APIs, compute, and data. There are expectations that if AI agents execute spending within user-defined limits, it could open a new chapter for the XRPL. On June 9, Ripple released the XRP Ledger AI Starter Kit to support developers in creating AI agent payment applications. This kit includes X402-based payments that support digital service payments, including APIs, compute, and AI model inference. While agent transactions on the XRPL have exceeded 1 million, most of these are related to API and data payments. Fang, a co-founder, has stated that they are working on onboarding stores for physical product purchases, but this does not imply that physical consumption has spread on a large scale. The practical usage scope of AI agent payments and the experimentation of payment infrastructure remain important issues for domestic investors.
