Russia Attacks Warehouse of Readeat and Ukrainian Publishers

In Kyiv, a Russian Shahed drone hit a warehouse containing books from Readeat, Book.ua, and other Ukrainian publishers. Dmitry Felixov, the founder of Readeat bookstores, reported that the attack caused damage, resulting in the cancellation of order shipments on August 28. The Ukrainian book market is already facing difficulties due to declining demand and losses from Russian attacks, forcing publishers to rethink logistics and cut back on programs. At the beginning of 2026, the market encountered a drop in the purchasing power of the population and an exodus of Ukrainians abroad. Russian shelling exacerbates the situation, creating new risks for the stability of the industry. Earlier, on July 2, 2026, an attack destroyed the central warehouse of Denka Logistics, leading to the loss of about 800,000 copies of books from the publisher BookChef. Additionally, the warehouse of the online store "Nash Format" was damaged as a result of the strike. In a previous attack, the printing house "From A to Z" was affected, where a kamikaze drone damaged walls and windows, but no workers were harmed.
