Securitize shares drop 20% after earnings miss with 14.4 million revenue

Securitize (SECZ) shares fell 20% in after-hours trading following a disappointing second-quarter earnings report. The company reported revenue of 14.4 million dollars, a 5% decline from the previous year, and below analyst expectations of 20.6 million dollars. Securitize posted a loss of 2.37 dollars per share, significantly worse than the anticipated loss of 0.15 dollars per share, with a net loss of 21.7 million dollars. Adjusted EBITDA also swung to a loss of 5.5 million dollars from a gain of 1.8 million dollars a year prior. Despite the financial setbacks, average tokenized assets under management reached a record 4.3 billion dollars, up 16% year-over-year, and transaction volume surged 147% to 5.3 billion dollars. The company oversees 663 active funds and 24.3 billion dollars in assets under administration. CEO Carlos Domingo described the quarter as 'softer' but noted a stronger start to the year, with first-half revenue up 16% year-over-year. Securitize is known for its role in tokenizing financial products, including the BUIDL tokenized money-market fund launched with BlackRock. This report marks Securitize's first quarterly update since going public after merging with a Cantor-backed SPAC in July.
