SemiAnalysis: Gemini 3 Pro May Mark Google's Competitive Peak, Cloud Business to Benefit Most

On August 7, market attention on Alphabet AI shifted from model rankings to cloud business monetization. AI market research firm SemiAnalysis's latest report indicates that Google's DeepMind team has undergone a deep restructuring, with Demis Hassabis stepping back from daily management, Jeff Dean founding Discovery Loop, and Koray Kavukcuoglu taking over Gemini/DeepMind. SemiAnalysis believes that Gemini 3 Pro may represent a peak in Google's model competitiveness, predicting that its performance in 2026 will significantly lag behind OpenAI and Anthropic. The report highlights that Google Cloud will be the biggest beneficiary of this adjustment, with resource allocation shifting towards cloud business and TPU commercialization. Estimates suggest that Gemini's annual recurring revenue (ARR) in the second quarter of 2026 will be around $12 billion, while by the end of 2027, GCP's third-party AI IaaS/TaaS ARR could exceed $73 billion, and TPU sales are expected to reach $120 billion. GCP grew by 82% last quarter, partly due to sales of TPU systems to external SPVs. SemiAnalysis argues that if Gemini continues to fall behind, it will weaken Alphabet's narrative in the cutting-edge model race. However, if GCP can consistently convert TPU and computing power demands into revenue, market valuations of Alphabet will increasingly rely on cloud infrastructure and enterprise AI platforms.
