South Korea and the United States are discussing investments by Korean companies in the U.S. semiconductor sector. A South Korean government official stated that these discussions are taking place within a broader framework of bilateral consultations. In response to whether the chip tariff plan revealed by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo would affect current investment negotiations, the official pointed out that there are various issues between South Korea and the U.S. that can sometimes influence each other. He emphasized that semiconductor investment is one of the investment-related topics being discussed by both sides and expressed that efforts are being made to prevent these issues from hindering each other.
