Spain vs Argentina, Spain's Championship Probability at 58%
The prediction market platform Predict.fun indicates that the final of the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico will feature Spain facing Argentina. Currently, the market gives Spain a championship probability of approximately 58%, while Argentina's probability stands at around 41%. The final will take place at 3 AM Beijing time on July 20. Spain and Argentina are the two teams that have performed the best in this tournament. This will be the first time in history that the current European champion meets the current South American champion in a World Cup final. The two teams have faced each other 14 times historically, with each side winning 6 matches and 2 ending in a draw. They have only met once in the World Cup, where Argentina defeated Spain 2-1 in the group stage of the 1966 World Cup. Both teams have set multiple records in this World Cup; Spain has conceded only 1 goal in their first 7 matches, and if they secure a clean sheet and win the final, they will break the record for the fewest goals conceded by a champion in a single World Cup. Argentina, on the other hand, has won all seven of their matches, scoring 19 goals to reach the final, and has extended their unbeaten streak in the World Cup to 13 matches (11 wins and 2 draws). If Argentina successfully defends their title, they will become the third team in history to win back-to-back World Cups.
