Three Communities in Chernihiv Region Receive Inclusive Buses
Bobrovytsia, Vertiivka, and Varva communities in the Chernihiv region have received inclusive school buses ahead of the new academic year. The purchase was made with financial support from the EU under the Ukraine Facility program. The buses are equipped with lifts for children in wheelchairs. This year, the school bus fleet in the region will be supplemented with 14 new buses: 10 regular and 4 special, three of which have already been delivered. The remaining buses are expected to be delivered by the end of August or in September. The project funding includes nearly 45 million UAH from the state, over 12.5 million UAH from local budgets, and EU support. The fleet update is crucial due to the consequences of hostilities and the wear and tear of equipment. The head of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration noted that 5 buses were destroyed, 4 were damaged, and the purchase of new transport is necessary. In 2026, Ukrainian communities plan to purchase more than 540 school buses for 2 billion UAH, with priority given to lyceums and specialized institutions.
