Turkish Investors to Start Graphite Mining in Ukraine's Khmelnytskyi Region
LLC "Kop'ye Ukraine," owned by Turkish companies, plans to develop the Horodnyavskyi section of the Burtinsky graphite deposit in the Khmelnytskyi region. The company intends to create an open-pit mine covering an area of 105 hectares and extract up to 1 million tons of ore per year. The graphite reserves at the Horodnyavskyi section are estimated to exceed 6 million tons. "Kop'ye Ukraine" has a special permit for subsoil use until September 2042. Mining will be conducted using open-pit methods with excavators and blasting operations. The maximum depth of the pit will be 150 meters. Drainage water will be used for technological needs. The company must prepare an environmental impact assessment report before starting operations. The investors are Turkish companies Onur Group and Özdoğu Sarp. "Kop'ye Ukraine" has been registered in Lviv since 2010 and specializes in the extraction of ores and non-ferrous metals. Previously, the company planned to mine gold in the Zhovtovodskyi area but withdrew its permit in 2026.
