Vietcombank Warns of AI-Driven Fraud

By: blogtienao.com|2026/08/25 16:35:28

Vietcombank has issued a warning about a new fraud scheme that uses AI to impersonate banks and journalists, luring users into participating in unlicensed cryptocurrency investment platforms. The perpetrators create fake content in the form of investigative reports or articles, using AI-generated images that mimic the headquarters and uniforms of Vietcombank. The fake content often promises high returns, claiming that with just a few million VND in capital, one can earn tens of millions of VND each month, and asserts that the platform operates legally. The links usually end with a 'Sign Up Now' button, directing users to websites that collect personal information or request deposits. Vietcombank confirms that it does not collaborate with illegal cryptocurrency trading platforms and that any content using the bank's name or images is fraudulent. The bank advises customers not to transfer money, not to link accounts with unverified platforms, not to click on strange links, and not to provide OTPs, PINs, or passwords to anyone. If there is any suspicion of information leakage, customers should lock their online banking services or cards and contact Vietcombank for assistance. This incident highlights how AI is making fraudulent content increasingly realistic, making it crucial to verify the source of information before transferring money or providing personal data.
