Wall Street rebounds, but falls 1.37% weekly
Global stock markets improved this Friday, although they are heading towards their largest weekly drop since July, due to tensions in the bond markets. Stagnation in the Middle East is driving oil prices to a one-month high, increasing inflation risks. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is ready to expand debt buyback efforts and will announce a new fiscal initiative to address high borrowing costs. However, there are doubts about sufficient cuts to reduce a budget deficit of over 6% of GDP, with interest reaching $1.2 trillion this year and debt exceeding $40 trillion. The yield on 30-year Treasury bonds rose 0.71 points to 5.274%. Brent crude increased by 0.85% to $94.59 per barrel, with a weekly gain of 6.8%. WTI crude fell 0.37% to $87.16, although it advanced 5.7% for the week. The S&P 500 rose 0.49%, the Nasdaq 0.49%, and the Dow Jones 0.76%. The biggest gainers in the S&P 500 are Moderna (+11%), Freeport McMoran (+7%), and Albermarle (+6%). The most significant declines are from Edison (-4%), Bunge (-3%), and Sempra Energy (-4%). On a weekly basis, the S&P 500 fell 1.37%, the Nasdaq 2%, and the Dow Jones 1%. In Europe, the Euro Stoxx rose 0.68%, the German DAX 0.56%, and the French CAC 0.37%. In Asia, the Hang Seng rose 1.21%, the Shanghai stock exchange 0.04%, the Kospi 0.88%, and the Nikkei 225 fell 0.36%.
