CLARITY Act Set for Senate Closure Vote on September 16
The CLARITY Act, a U.S. legislation aimed at the digital asset market structure, is set for a closure vote in the Senate at 3:15 AM KST on September 16. This vote will determine whether to end debate on the bill, requiring 60 votes to pass. The bill has already passed the House, with H.R. 3633 approved on July 17, 2025, by a vote of 294 in favor and 134 against. The Senate Banking Committee also forwarded it to the full Senate with a vote of 15 in favor and 9 against on May 14, 2026. The legislation imposes anti-money laundering and sanctions compliance obligations on digital asset brokers and exchanges. However, Democrats believe the ethical provisions are insufficient, and some opponents are concerned that stablecoin rewards could lead to bank deposit outflows. This vote is a crucial moment in gauging the direction of U.S. digital asset regulation, as failure to secure 60 votes could delay discussions on the bill.
