Aave Deposits Reach $30 Billion, Dashboard Figures Show Discrepancy
Aave (AAVE) founder stated that deposits have reached $30 billion, but the public dashboard shows a lower figure. Founder Stani Kulechov mentioned on X on August 22, "Liquidity is back." In the DeFi lending protocol, deposits refer to the assets supplied to the lending market, while TVL indicates the total value locked in the protocol. As of the 23rd, Aavescan reported total supplied assets at $26.37 billion, loaned assets at $11.31 billion, and TVL at $15.06 billion. DeFi Llama recorded TVL at $14.26 billion and active loans at $11.09 billion. Both dashboards reflect Aave's status as a DeFi lending protocol, but do not clarify the aggregation criteria for the $30 billion statement. Aave recently announced that its V4 deposits have exceeded $325 million and that it has begun operations on Avalanche. V4 is designed to allow multiple markets to share liquidity, and efforts are underway to reduce underutilized deployments. Aave is considering ending deployments on six chains, which is expected to affect approximately $98 million in deposits. While the response on social media is positive regarding the "return of liquidity," the sustainability of the deposit increase remains uncertain. Deposits are also influenced by changes in collateral asset prices.
