Boeing Secures $636 Million Apache Contract Modification

Boeing has received a contract modification from the U.S. Army worth $636 million to extend maintenance support for Apache helicopters, bringing the total contract value to approximately $1.13 billion, with the execution period lasting until April 2029. This modification primarily involves logistical support for Apache airframe components, including system components, specialized consumables, testing equipment, obsolete parts management, and supply chain support, with related work to be conducted in Mesa, Arizona. Boeing's defense business has also made progress recently, as the Pentagon announced a framework agreement with Boeing and RTX aimed at increasing the production of Standard Missile-3 Block IIA and Block IB interceptor components, which are used in the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System. Boeing's financial performance has shown improvement, with second-quarter revenue of $24.6 billion and free cash flow of $631 million, while backlog orders reached a record $715 billion, despite the company still recording a net loss of $428 million, partly due to a $280 million charge from delays in the Air Force One replacement project. Boeing delivered 53 aircraft in July, down from 64 in June but up from the same period last year. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration certified the long-delayed 737 MAX 7 this month.
