Cabinet Allocates 49.4 Million UAH for Dam Repair in Odesa Region
The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated 49.4 million UAH for urgent emergency recovery works on the protective dam of the Danube River in the Odesa region. The funds will be provided from the reserve fund of the state budget on a non-repayable basis. Vitaliy Kindratov, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine, noted that the condition of the dam requires immediate action, and the allocated funding will allow for prompt commencement of works to prevent a technological emergency. The main focus is on the safety of the residents of Izmail and the protection of areas located near the Danube. The Ministry emphasizes that the execution of the works will enhance the protection of the area from potential emergencies and ensure proper living conditions in the Odesa region. According to estimates from the European Commission and the World Bank, the damage inflicted on Ukraine by Russian troops as a result of the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant dam is estimated at 14 billion dollars.
