DeepSeek Surpasses Google to Become OpenRouter's Most Called Service This Week
DeepSeek reached a total of 299 million text requests this week, accounting for 27.1% of the total on the OpenRouter platform, surpassing Google's 277 million requests (25.0%) and OpenAI's 185 million requests (16.8%). This ranking is based on the combined statistics of text API request counts by model vendors, with calls from models such as DeepSeek V4 Flash and V4 Pro included under DeepSeek. The growth of DeepSeek is primarily driven by the V4 series; after the release of V4, DeepSeek's token share has roughly doubled within six months, with growth mainly coming from Agent tasks. One month after the launch of V4 Flash, it has accounted for 70% of DeepSeek Agent token usage. Agents typically make multiple consecutive calls to the model when completing a task, further increasing the request volume.
