HTX User Accounts Frozen, Platform Responds That Investigation Is Underway
Several cryptocurrency practitioners reported that this morning they received small deposits from HTX exchange to their addresses on other exchanges, after which their accounts were frozen. Previously, exchanges such as Binance and OKX announced that they would no longer process deposits and withdrawals from HTX in response to sanctions from the EU and the UK, which could lead to forced account freezes. Community users claimed that this action is similar to "address poisoning," which would trigger KYT/AML risk controls on other platforms. HTX's market manager, Molly Fu, stated that the official has not engaged in such actions, and it may be a misunderstanding or malicious behavior. The platform's deposits and withdrawals have been normal recently, and if it were a test, it would only be conducted on a small scale through its own accounts. HTX has held an internal meeting and is quickly investigating the cause, and will report back to the community.
