Jane Street Increases Stake in SanDisk with 540% Surge
On August 25, quantitative trading firm Jane Street significantly increased its holdings in AI storage chip manufacturer SanDisk (SNDK), raising its share count to 7.41 million shares, with a market value of approximately $9 billion, an increase of 6.25 million shares, or about 540%. SanDisk has become Jane Street's second-largest single-stock position, following SPY. Documents show that Jane Street currently holds about 5.47% of SanDisk's outstanding shares, surpassing its positions in Amazon, NVIDIA, and Microsoft. SanDisk has risen over 3000% in the past 12 months but has retreated about 36% from its historical peak. The recent performance of SanDisk has been driven by demand from AI data centers, with projected revenue from data center operations expected to grow by 437% year-on-year to $5.15 billion in fiscal year 2026, and the share of data center shipments increasing from 12% a year ago to 38%. The company has signed long-term supply agreements with eight customers, with total contract revenue expected to be at least $93.9 billion and remaining performance obligations reaching $91.1 billion. SanDisk anticipates that demand for AI inference will continue to drive growth in the NAND flash memory market and is developing high-bandwidth flash (HBF) products for AI inference workloads, with plans to provide samples to customers next year.
