Kremlin to Continue Military Operations While Awaiting Trump's Ukraine Proposal

The Kremlin stated that it finds U.S. President Donald Trump's efforts to end the war in Ukraine sincere, but that Russia will continue its military operations. Moscow has indicated its readiness to evaluate any new proposals that may come from Washington. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov positively assessed the approach of Trump and U.S. negotiators in their pursuit of peace. Peskov noted that it is contradictory for the U.S. to continue supplying weapons to Ukraine while working on a diplomatic solution. Despite these conditions, the Kremlin expressed its intention to keep communication channels open with Washington. Peskov emphasized that Russia will continue to use military methods to achieve its current objectives. Expectations have recently emerged that Trump may present a new plan. The U.S. administration is continuing its efforts to revive talks between the parties. The last tripartite peace talks between Russia and Ukraine took place in February. Moscow has indicated its readiness to host new discussions between U.S. and Russian officials. However, the Kremlin's statement regarding the continuation of military operations has diminished expectations for a comprehensive ceasefire in the short term. Peskov noted that there will be no change in Russia's stance until the content of the new proposal from Washington is seen.
