Spark Q2 Financial Report: Total Revenue of $40.6 Million, Distribution Business Revenue of $4.53 Million

By: paragraph.com|2026/08/06 13:17:13

The DeFi protocol Spark has released its financial report for the second quarter of 2026, showing total revenue of $40.6 million, a 29% increase quarter-over-quarter; net protocol revenue of $4.31 million, a 38% decrease; and net protocol surplus of $710,000, a 79% decrease. The main reasons for this are the continued compression of spreads in Spark's liquidity layer (SLL) and rising financing costs in the USDT savings market. As of the end of the quarter, the Spark protocol treasury stood at $48.5 million, with $1.31 million spent on SPK token buybacks in the second quarter. By product line, Spark charges a 0.2% distribution service fee on user balances in USDS-denominated savings vaults, which contributed $4.53 million to the quarterly net protocol revenue, surpassing SLL net income, with sUSDS contributing $2.63 million. The average deployed capital in SLL for the second quarter reached $2.56 billion, an increase quarter-over-quarter, but net protocol revenue turned negative (-$810,000), with captured spreads dropping from 0.64% in the first quarter to -0.13% in the second quarter. By the end of the second quarter, SparkLend had deployed approximately $1.2 billion through SLL, with USDT balances increasing to about $528 million, making it one of the largest USDT lending markets on Ethereum. Despite pressure on lending spreads, the company maintained profitability each month in the second quarter, with monthly net protocol surplus fluctuating between $45,000 and $417,000, and the structural growth of the distribution business provided a natural hedge for the protocol.
