Monetary Policy Committee's Interest Rate Decision and Economic Outlook Announcement on the 27th
On the 27th, the Bank of Korea's Monetary Policy Committee will announce its interest rate decision and the economic outlook for August. Key statistics and supervisory data will be released from the 25th to the 28th, including household debt, interest rates, and consumer and business sentiment indicators. The Bank of Korea will publish the 'August 2026 Consumer Trend Survey Results' at 6 AM on the 25th, and at noon, it will release the preliminary figures for 'Household Debt Statistics by Borrower for Q2 2026'. At 6 AM on the 26th, the 'August 2026 Business Survey Results and Economic Sentiment Index' will be announced, followed by the release of the 'Weighted Average Interest Rate of Financial Institutions for July 2026' at noon. The Monetary Policy Committee's main meeting will take place at 9 AM on the 27th, with a press conference by Governor Shin Hyun-sung scheduled for 11:10 AM, and the 'Economic Outlook for August 2026' materials will be released at 1:30 PM. The current base rate is 2.75% per annum as of July 16, 2026. The market expects 11 out of 21 financial institutions to maintain the base rate, while 10 anticipate a 25 basis point increase. The Monetary Policy Committee's decision significantly impacts the financial market.
