Ukrainian Armed Forces to Purchase FPV Drones for the First Time
The Defense Procurement Agency (DPA) has announced the procurement of FPV kamikaze drones using fiber optics according to the standards of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. These drones utilize fiber optic cables for communication with the operator, protecting them from electronic warfare (EW) jamming and ensuring stable control and high-quality video transmission. Ukrainian Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara emphasized that the new technologies will help to more effectively counter the enemy on the front lines and in the rear. The tenders are open to all companies whose products meet the requirements, with classifications based on flight range and camera specifications. Each class includes four lots with varying order volumes, allowing both large manufacturers and representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises to participate. One participant can receive no more than 50% of the total procurement volume within one class, which stimulates competition and reduces the risks of supply disruptions. An open tender has also been announced for the procurement of long-range drones to strike targets deep in the enemy's rear.
